Director/Head Esports Coach - Aaron Shockley

Aaron Shockley enters his second season as the head coach and third overall season with the eSports program in 2020. During the 2019-2020 season the esports program had an overall record of 61-62 while the League of Legends team went undefeated and became the ECAC Gold Division League Champions. The program also reach 8 different playoffs and achieved two nationally ranking of 5th and 10th in nation for the Fortnite league. The program achieved 15 ECAC Fall All-Academic students.

 

In 2018, he helped lead the Overwatch team to first ever playoff berth, which marked the best program record in CMU History. The 2018 Hearthstone team also reached its highest national ranking in program history at No. 2 in the regular season poll.

 

He earned his Bachelor's degree in 2012 and his Master's of Education in 2015, both from Central Methodist University. Shockley has been a part of Central Methodist Athletics since 2008, where he was a four year member of the men's soccer team. He also coached the men's soccer program from 2013-15. In spring 2015 he was awarded the “Coach Moz Staff Award” and was the first assistant coach to receive this award.

Assistant Esports Coach - Darren Jones

Darren Jones enters his second season as the Assistant Esports Coach in 2020. Coach Jones led our League of Legends team to be ECAC Gold Division League Champions in 2019-2020. Coach Jones also led our Fortnite team to achieve national rankings of 5th and 10th in the nation and competed in two different national playoffs during 2019-2020 seasons in Collegiate Star League and ECAC.

 

Darren has played competitive Fortnite and Call of Duty for 9 years. He has compete in LAN tournaments in Fortnite for the past 16 months. Darren brings competitive experience to not only his games but to the esports program in general.

 

He earned his Bachelor's degree in 2016 and is currently working on his Master's of Education, both from Central Methodist University. Jones has been apart of Central Methodist Athletics since 2012, where he was a four year member of the men's soccer team. He also was the Assistant Men's Soccer coach at Westminster College, Fulton, MO from 2016-2018.

Student Assistant Esports Coach - Gabriel Ellinghouse

 

Gabriel Ellinghouse enters his second season as the Student Assistant Esports Coach in 2020. Coach Ellinghouse leads our Overwatch team at Central Methodist University.

 

Specializing in micro development of players he has coached at a semi professional level for the past three years. He has experience in Tier 3 as well as Tier 2 and has coached 6 different regions in his short three years as a coach.

 

He is currently earning his Bachelor's degree from Central Methodist University.
